Peptides
Cortagen: gene-expression findings without cognitive proof
What is it?
Cortagen is a synthetic Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro tetrapeptide associated with the bioregulator research program. It should not be confused with Cortexin, a different brain-derived peptide mixture. A claim based on the extract does not automatically transfer to the tetrapeptide. [1]
What do studies show?
A research group treated mice with Cortagen for five days and used microarrays to identify changes in gene expression in heart tissue. Other preclinical work has examined nerve-injury models. These are mechanistic or animal endpoints, not evidence that Cortagen improves memory, prevents dementia, repairs nerves, or changes human disease outcomes. [1]
Safety
Human exposure, long-term safety, and lot quality of a marketed research vial have not been established by the mouse study. People with neurological symptoms should receive a diagnosis and appropriate care.

EVIDENCE CONTEXT
Why?
The cited evidence does not establish a dose for this use or product.
No effective or safe human Cortagen dose has been established. An animal gene-expression schedule is not a clinical dosing study, and a vial’s milligrams cannot be used to infer an amount. We found no clearly attributable exact-form anecdotal protocol with enough information to treat as a useful comparison. [1]
