Epitalon
What is it?
Epitalon, also called epithalon or AEDG, is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide inspired by research on pineal-gland extracts. It is not the same substance as epithalamin, the larger extract sometimes discussed alongside it. [1]
How might it work?
In cultured human cells, early and newer studies observed changes in telomerase activity and telomere length after adding epitalon. These are interesting laboratory signals. Telomere changes in a dish do not show that an injection extends human life or improves health. [2,3]
Why do people discuss it for longevity and sleep?
The cell work, animal work, and possible links to melatonin make epitalon attractive in longevity circles. An older small human sublingual study examined a melatonin metabolite and clock-gene markers, not sleep duration, sleep quality, or lifespan. FDA's 2026 review concluded those data could not establish a treatment effect for insomnia. This keeps the longevity and sleep ideas in the research category. [1]
What should you know before considering it?
There is no FDA-approved epitalon product. FDA noted limited human safety information for the proposed injected route and possible concerns about peptide impurities and immune reactions. [1]

How much?
FORM & SCHEDULE
What it refers to
injected daily for 20 days, three times yearly
Epitalon is not FDA-approved. The small human study used a different route, and injection safety is not well characterized.
2 mg — epitalon injected daily for 20 days, repeated three times a year, is Jay Campbell's published longevity protocol. It is a practitioner-reported cycle, not a dose that has been shown in human trials to slow aging or improve sleep. [4]

The human sublingual marker study used a different route and cannot validate this injection schedule. [1]
