Peptides
P-21 and P021: promising mouse work is not a human treatment
What is it?
P021 is a synthetic neurotrophic compound derived from a region of ciliary neurotrophic factor, with an added chemical group. The Amino Annex listing says “P-21,” but the name alone is not enough to confirm that its sequence, modifications, and purity match the research compound P021. [1,2]
What do studies show?
In a transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer-like disease, researchers mixed P021 into the diet for many months and reported changes in synapses, neurogenesis, and cognitive tasks. This is interesting preclinical work, but it neither treats Alzheimer disease in people nor supports the claim that a research vial boosts healthy adult learning. We did not identify a controlled human trial of the exact catalog product. [1]
Safety
Human pharmacokinetics, long-term effects, and safety are not established for the proposed use. Brain-related claims deserve particular care because they may lead people to delay assessment of memory symptoms.

EVIDENCE CONTEXT
Why?
The cited evidence does not establish a dose for this use or product.
No safe/effective human dose of P021 or the catalog product labeled P-21 has been established. The cited study provided a compound in mouse chow over months; converting that animal feeding exposure into a human injection schedule would be unsupported. A 10 mg vial is a package size, not a studied dose. [1,2]
